The machine had learned to remember

By July 7, one small technical problem had been solved. profit_manager.py initialized a persistent state file. Persistent state simply means the program can save information and find it again after another cycle or restart, instead of forgetting everything each time it runs.

For a bot that was supposed to operate for hours without constant supervision, that mattered. The system was becoming less like a script Patryk launched by hand and more like a machine expected to keep track of its own work.

Then came the uncomfortable number

The saved state showed cumulative profit at 0.0.

There was no dramatic crash to fix and no obvious error message to paste back into AI. The bot could be alive, its files could work, and its state could be stored correctly while the result remained empty.

That distinction was becoming important. Technical activity is not the same thing as useful activity. A trading bot can print logs, run loops and save files without proving that its strategy has any value.

Another 24 hours

Patryk did not tear the system apart immediately. The preserved project history shows a simpler decision: leave it running for another 24 hours and observe.

That choice fits the stage of the project. Patryk was still learning what normal behavior looked like, while the Swarm was still mostly teacher, coder and debugger. Neither side had yet become the stricter research process that would come much later.

Waiting was not proof that the bot was good. It was a way to separate a short quiet period from a deeper problem.

A new question

Only a few days earlier the question had been: can we make this thing run? Now it was changing into something harder: if it runs, how do we know it is doing the right thing?

That question would follow the project into the next stage. More symbols, more portfolio logic and more machinery were coming. More machinery, however, would not automatically create more confidence.
